Before becoming the first chairman of the DPA, David Stevens was Data Protection Officer at Telenet and Nielsen. David has more than 20 years of expertise in law and IT. He started his career as a researcherof the "Center for Intellectual Property and ICT Law (CiTiP)" at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. He defended his thesis in 2009 on the subject of the independence of the regulatory authorities in the telecommunications and media sector.
Educated in both Belgium (University of Ghent) and the United States (University of Chicago), Reinout started his career as an attorney at law in the Brussels offices of Allen & Overy LLP. Subsequently he gained experience in the banking world as a Compliance Officer in the BNP Paribas banking group.
At the National Bank of Belgium, Reinout specializes in both prudential supervision of payment and e-money institutions, payments policy and oversight of market infrastructures (payment systems & card schemes). In this capacity he is the Belgian representative in both the ECB/EBA SecuRePay forum and in the PSOWG (Payment & Securities Oversight Working Group).
He has, among other things, been involved in the transposition of PSD2 into Belgian law as well as setting up the National Bank's Fintech contact point. He has also been responsible for drafting the 2017 oversight hard law framework regulating systemically important retail payment processors in Belgium.
Dr. Rois Ni Thuama LLB LLM PhD has worked with technology and new ventures since 2002 including Sakhalin Energy Investment Company (a Shell, Mitsubishi, Mitsui joint venture), Credit Suisse, Armstrong & Cavendish and IAS Medical. She works together with software developers and FTSE 350 clients to understand their shareholder engagement needs as well as delivering seminars at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She works with Red Sift to address pressing cybersecurity issues. Her academic interests include Corporate Governance, IT Governance, Cyber Crime, Cybersecurity, Law and Technology.
Dominique Steenbeek is responsible for Europe product and market management of Mastercard's Identity Products. He has worked at Mastercard for fifteen years and has held a number of roles as product manager of mass market Credit for Europe, then Debit solutions for Europe, and moved on to become global lead of Mastercard Installments. Prior to his tenure at Mastercard, he held Marketing Manager positions at ING and ABN AMRO, consultant at PW&C, and product manager at Citibank and Procter & Gamble. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics and an MBA in Quantitative Marketing from the Louvain-la-Neuve and Leuven universities in Belgium. Dominique is fluent in French, English and Dutch.
